Where to Explore in the BVI

The British Virgin Islands are made up of over 50 islands, each with their own unique geography, attractions, and vibe.

Virgin Gorda and The Baths

At the far eastern end of the island chain, roughly 20 miles from St. John. Virgin Gorda is most well known for the boulder formation at its southern tip, The Baths. This world famous geological formation puts you and your imagination right into a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Make the swim into Devil’s bay to begin the trail through these larger than life boulders that literally surround you. A place you truly have to see to believe. Another well known area on Virgin Gorda is its North Sound. A playground for the rich and famous, this sound is home to Richard Branson’s Necker Island and Larry Page’s Eustatia Island. You may also want to stop at one of the many resorts and beach clubs in this area. Such as Saba Rock, Bitter End, and Oil Nut Bay.

“The Triangle”

Named, The Triangle, by captains due to the route forming a rough triangle through the Islands. This excursion includes a visit to the infamous Norman Island. The legends surrounding this island are believed to have inspired Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel, Treasure Island. Norman Island is surrounded by some of the best snorkeling the Virgin Islands have to offer. Including the Indians, The Caves, and Spy Glass Wall. Grab a bite to eat at one of 2 restaurants located in the area, Pirates Bight and The Willy T. The William Thornton being a floating pirate ship bar/restaurant famous for its parties and jumping off of it upper deck After spending the morning exploring around Norman make your way to Jost Van Dyke for a painkiller at Soggy Dollar or a swim at Sandy Spit.

Explore Jost Van Dyke

Furthest to the west is Jost van Dyke. A short boat ride from Cruz Bay, St. John, this island is famous for its white sand beaches and quaint beach bars. Grab a drink at Soggy Dollar and Foxy’s, two of the most popular of over a dozen beach bars to hop through. Or escape to one of the surrounding Cays, such as Sandy Spit. Famous for being the location of the Corona commercial. Getting hungry? Make a stop at one of the islands many great restaurants. Hendo’s Hideout or Sydney’s Peace and Love lobster shack being some of our favorites. You can easily spend your day making “the most of Jost”.
